On January the 1st 2004 the European Union increased from 15 countries to 25 and in order to help celebrate the occasion the Cleddau Amateur Radio Society & GB3AE awards launched the European Union Award. The award came in three classes, class 3 for working 10 countries, class 2 for working 20 countries and class 1 for working all 25 countries.

On January 1st 2007 the European Union expanded from 25 countries to 27 with the inclusion of Bulgaria and Romania.

With this in mind the Cleddau Amateur Radio Society & GB3AE Award have decided to update the European award to include these countries in a new award which will start on January 1st 2006 a year earlier than Bulgaria and Romania, become full members, this is because they signed the accession document on April the 25th 2005 which admitted them into the European Union Club.

The new certificates can be claimed for working 10 (class 3), 20 (class 2) and 27 (class 1) European Union countries, all contacts must be made after 1/1/2005, you can claim the award on any Mode/mixed and any Band / mixed, each certificate costs £4:00p UK, $8US dollars, €7 Euro, 1000yen Japanese or 10 IRC (Please make cheques out to Tenby Radio Repeater Group )UK ONLY
